A security expert was pulled off a domestic flight by the FBI for fear he was hacking the plane:
In a tweet, Roberts referenced the plane’s satellite communications and the aircraft’s engine-indicating and crew-alerting system.
Federal law enforcement didn’t find that funny and immediately kicked into action. Roberts said FBI agents detained and questioned him for four hours. They also seized his laptop, iPad, hard drives, and other computer gear.
I am hesitant to commend the FBI for its ostensible near real-time monitoring of this type of information primarily because it should have been obvious what was happening here. An actual act of terror would not have begun with a simple tweet proclaiming the potential to deploy oxygen masks. Instead, terrorists would have merely fulfilled their agenda without nary a word on social media.
